2014 City of Sherrill Summer Concert Series

The Sherrill Summer Concert Series is back starting Tuesday, June 24 and running through Tuesday, August 26. Concerts begin at 6:30pm in the Reilly-Mumford Memorial Park gazebo, except for fireworks night when the concert will start at 7:30pm. In the event of heavy rain the concert will be moved to the Community Activity Center (CAC) gym on East Hamilton Avenue. Bring lawn chairs and blankets and in the case of light rain, an umbrella. Come out and enjoy the beautiful summer evenings with your neighbors.
June 24 Grupo Pagan- Diverse backgrounds create a high energy blend of sounds guaranteed to grab the ear, featuring originals plus covers by the likes of Santana, Sade, and Shakira.
July 1 George Wesley- Travel to a summer in a far away exotic locale without leaving Sherrill as the sounds of reggae return to the Reilly-Mumford Memorial Park.
July 8 Party Nuts/Free Ice Cream Night- It’s always a party when the Party Nuts come to town, featuring an evening of golden oldie rock ‘n’ roll sing-alongs that encourage plenty of audience participation. There’s a bonus treat- free ice cream for all kids and kids at heart.
July 15 Dan Elliott and the Monterays- The #1 oldies group and longest running band in Central New York bring to the Sherrill stage all the favorites from the 1950s to the 1980s.
July 22 Coston- Oneida-based guitar virtuoso Roy Coston is joined by his 16-year-old drummer prodigy son Gunnar Coston and Sherrill’s own concert series emcee Mike Jaquays on bass for their first visit to the Sherrill stage, delivering classic rock from artists like Ted Nugent, Foreigner, Pat Travers, and KISS. As a bonus, they will be joined at this show by the legendary Mike “MJ Bombsquad” SantaLucia on lead vocals, plus the Gorman Foundation’s own Joanne Larson will take over emcee duties for the evening!
July 26 Fireworks Night with Fritz’s Polka Band- Our annual fireworks night adds even more excitement to the fiery show of Fritz and crew as they perform their upbeat and fun polkas, waltzes, country, and rock ‘n’ roll tunes sure to get the audience on their feet. Note: This concert starts at 7:30pm, with fireworks to follow.
July 29 Matt Chase and the Thunder Canyon Band- There will be modern country and oldies rock ‘n’ roll on stage this evening courtesy of these perennial Sherrill favorites. Make sure you stay to the end for their heartfelt patriotic tribute.
August 5 Causeway Giants- This Syracuse-based Celtic rock band has a flare for the sounds of the Irish, putting new spins on traditional music, adding in some originals and covering bands like Flogging Molly, The Dropkick Murphies, and The Young Dubliners.
August 12 Joe Angerosa as Elvis- With a sound-alike performance and authentic costumes, this Utica-based crooner channels the timeless classics from the king of rock ‘n’ roll.
August 19 Dan Elliott and the Monterays- By popular demand, it’s an encore concert of classic golden oldies from a band that is a classic themselves- they started back in 1962, and have played with the likes of the Beach Boys and Dion. They’ll share some of those great tunes with the Sherrill audience during this special return engagement!
August 26 Chief Big Way- Taking a break from his world tours with Anthrax, Joey Belladonna teams with musicians extraordinaire Joe Precourt and Dave Mickelson in a power trio playing the best classic rock, featuring the likes of Journey, Pink Floyd, Bad Company, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
