March 1, 2012 is the deadline this year for filing certain property tax exemption applications with the Assessor’s office. Many exemptions do not automatically renew each year. Two of these are the Senior Citizen’s exemption and the Enhanced STAR (School Tax Relief Program) exemption, which both require annual renewal applications and proof of qualifying income levels.
Bob Comis, Assessor for the City of Sherrill, has established the following dates and times to process exemptions by the March 1st deadline: Tuesday February 21 from 10:00am-2:00pm and February 22 from 9:00am-12:00pm Also, February 27-29 from 9:00am-12:00pm. In addition, he is at Sherrill City Hall Monday-Friday and is available for an appointment if that is more convenient for you.
Contact Bob at City Hall, (315) 363-2440.
Exemptions must be filed by the March 1st deadline.

These businesses from Sherrill were three of the four businesses selected as finalists for the EDGEccelerator Business Competition sponsored by NBT Bank. In October growth-oriented businesses in Oneida and Herkimer Counties were invited to enter the contest which will provide a cash award of $20,000 and a loan of up to $50,000 to the winning company. Over the next few weeks each company will present their business projects before a panel of five judges. The winner will be announced March 6. The City of Sherrill wishes all three businesses the best of luck and is proud to be their home.
