I am happy to report that a new Memorial Bench has been put in place at Reilly-Mumford Park in Sherrill. This replaces the one destroyed by vandals last May. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who made this possible: The Old Sherrill School students who responded with their generosity, the concerned citizens of Sherrill for their donations, the VVS School system for their generous contribution, the City of Sherrill- Bob Comis, Mayor Vineall, Mike Holmes, all of the City Commissioners, and Gary Onyan and the DPW employees who did such a fine job preparing the site. I would also like to thank the people at Pexton Memorial Company in Canastota for their offer to sell us the new bench at a reduced cost. This was a joint effort and shows the spirit of this fine community. Once again on behalf of the School committee our heartfelt thanks goes out to all of you. -Rich McLaughlin, Committee Chairman
The City continues its efforts to complete work on Betsinger Road. This project, partially funded by State funds, is one of the largest road projects undertaken by the City. Much of the preliminary work was done by the City’s skilled work force with assistance from the Vernon Highway Department and Oneida County Public Works. The City thanks those agencies for their help and also the residents along Betsinger Road for their understanding during construction. Please check this link for additional updates about Betsinger Road- http://www.sherrillny.org/departments/public-works/betsinger-road.
